Configuring a NETGEAR DSL Modem Router with Smart Wizard
To configure your DSL modem router for internet connection follow the step-by-step guide properly:-
1. Quickly connect your DSL port of the Netgear modem router via phone line. Connect with the computer via LAN ports by using the Ethernet Cable.
Once you’re all set up, you just have to connect your Netgear DSL modem router to the power supply and wait until it boots.
2. Once the router boots up, you need to type 192.168.l.254 IP address (router’s IP address) and press enter.
- You need to log into the Router.
- The box will show you username and password, which is by default.
- In case your username and password are not working, you might have to change it, and need to enter that password which you have saved before.
3. Click the ‘Setup Wizard’ from the left corner and select ‘Yes.’ The setup wizard will take time to detect the Internet connection and click Next.
4. Now, after a while, ‘Setup Wizard’ will report the type of connection it catches up and then displays the appropriate configuration page.
You have to set up the Wizard Detected PPPoE Login Account to continue. Now, I have mentioned the steps to set up the Fixed IP Account. - Enter the ‘Account Name’ and ‘Domain Name’ from ISP.
- Now select ‘Use Static IP Address’ according to your ISP information.
- Enter the IP address as well as the Subnet Mask of your ISP’s gateway router. Also, make sure to enter the IP Address of your ISP’s Primary DNS.
- Tap on ‘Apply’ and wait for a while to save the settings.
- You can test your internet connection.

Enter the PPPoE login user name and password. Remember that these fields are case-sensitive.

5. When you click ‘Apply’ the router will save your settings. Once it completes, go to the maintenance section and check the ‘Router Status.’
