Animal Crossing New Horizons Winter Update – ACNH Seasonal Crafting Material & DIY Recipe

In the Northern Hemisphere Winter is well and truly underway with everyone seeing heavy snow showers and eventually seeing the snow settled on the ground. Furthermore, players in the Southern Hemisphere are now seeing the summer for the first time which is really exciting. No matter which region or hemisphere you’re in, the holiday festivities are fast approaching which just like other holidays throughout the year. It brings with it an all-new seasonal crafting material and Animal Crossing DIY recipes.

Starting from the 15th of December in both hemispheres cedar trees will become decorated with

festive tree lights. It is one of the best ways to transform your ACNH festive winter island design and makes everything feel more alive.

ACNH Winter Updates Crafting Material

ACNH Winter update Ornaments will be available around 3 weeks from 12TH December until the 6th, January. As a matter of fact, cedar trees are the source of the latest crafting material called ornaments. Ornaments act the same way as previous materials such as acorns and pine cones, you will be able to get them by spawn when shaking the festive trees. The trees will drop up to three different types of ornaments, including red ornaments, blue ornaments, and gold ornaments.

How To Get Ornaments In Animal Crossing New Horizons

They’re all pretty easy to find as unlike acorns and pine cones. For example, the trees only drop ornaments so you won’t be plagued by a million tree branches while collecting them. The drop rate is random but it seems the gold ornaments are slightly rarer and harder to find than the red or blue ones.

What’s more, you only need one decorated cedar tree to obtain these materials which is great for those of you with heavily developed islands or very few cedar trees. This is because there is no limit to how many ornaments can spawn from a single tree as a total of 14 ornaments can be obtained each time when shaking both sides. In that case, it’s super quick to collect as many as you need for building your ACNH Christmas town.

Animal Crossing New Horizons DIY Recipes – How To Find Winter Ornaments DIY Recipes

As you’d expect the ornaments can be used to craft the latest limited time festive items but just like other seasonal materials we have to find and learn the recipes first. The Animal Crossing festive DIY recipes are still seasonal, so it can be found in the balloon present that float across the skies every 5 to 10 minutes. Unfortunately, there’s no guarantee for finding these recipes as it’s still random with a rumored 15 drop rate for seasonal recipes. However, if you spend a bit of time farming the balloons and waiting along the beach until you hear them floating past you should be able to find some.
